AJAX on Mobiles

Even mobile companies have started realizing the importance of AJAX and the latest example is that of Nokia and Backbase which have jointly undertaken a Mobile AJAX research project. It is expected that five to ten years down the lane users would be browsing the internet through mobile phones in a big manner and less through their PCs. It is also expected that Mobile AJAX could increase the user experience of mobile web applications but there are a number of areas which still need to be studied.
Already we have seen that Nokia has embedded a fully featured web browser on its S60 devices but a number of problems are being faced in the form of limited processing power, slower internet connection, small screen size, Incomplete JavaScript implementations in the mobile web browsers and no integration with native phone features.
This seems to be a welcome step from both the companies towards making AJAX more popular but I think that its application in mobile devices might be limited by small screen size and input limitations.
