In case you are on a look out for Rich Internet Application or RIA technologies then you must be wondering technology to opt for? A common question would surely pop up in your mind whether to go for Ajax or Adobe? In case you are an experience holder in web development raring to evolve existing web applications then you need to go for Ajax whereas Adobe is aimed at those who are looking for a complete makeover to their web experience.

My friend Jeffrey has gone ahead and explained as to what each of them has to offer and what user should opt for. The best thing about Ajax is that it offers speedy performance, favors gradual re factoring of existing web applications and helps in meeting time to market needs. Besides benefits there are also some disadvantages in the form of increased testing costs due to cross browser compatibility issues and the difficulty in choosing the perfect Ajax framework.

If Adobe is your choice then let me tell you that Flex works quite well for large scale RIAs, has a widespread adoption and work towards improving developer's productivity but here too there are drawbacks in the form of Flash upgradation issues and can lead to unexpected user response. At the end of the day the ultimate choice should depend upon time to market and update requirements.
