Contextual eBay Ads for Web Publishers

Contextual eBay Ads for Web Publishers

EBay recently announced the winners of their developer program contest. One of the winners that stuck out to me was ctxbay.com. A developer put together an application that is suppose to allow people to include contextual EBay Ads on any web page. The service sort of looks like Google Adsense but with EBay items being for sale. Web publishers simply sign up for EBay's affiliates program and include the ads on their site. Those hosting the ads would then get a share of the EBay revenue for sales or commissions for new user registration.

That is the theory of course but it is still in beta. And when these folks say beta they mean it because most of the main site isn't functioning yet. Based on press releases and EBay itself though they are suppose to be in business as of March 2nd. This is yet one more way to make some money on your site.

    Hi Jason,

Yes, getting the context right is the key. I’m testing a couple of solutions right now and will will update the site soon. I’m not sure how Google does it, but I have an idea on how to make it “learn” and will imprement that in the future.

    Thanks for the mention :)
