Continuing with such initiative Sun Microsystems has come up with the Sun Eco Advantage Program offering its members with training, tools and resources for coming up with their own eco IT practices. This would enable its partners to come up with products and services backed by energy efficient IT solution which could go a long way in picking up the revenues. It gives its members access to exclusive services of Sun which includes Sun SPARC Enterprise T5140 and T5240 servers, virtualized Solaris OS and other scalable products. This program is aimed at delivering value eco services and the rising energy costs have probably made companies take a look towards energy saving technologies.
Following are the major components of Sun Eco Advantage Program:
• Training – Basic training on datacenter power, cooling, space and environmental issues; specialized training on delivering consolidation and virtualization services to reduce customers' operational costs, improve service quality and reduce the overall carbon footprint
• Sun Eco Assessment Service – Provides a technical evaluation of datacenter energy use, cooling capacity, rack placement, air distribution and other environmental factors
• Eco Modeling and ROI Tools – Helps partners model multiple power, cooling and carbon savings scenarios
• Implementation Methodologies – Helps deliver a more energy and cost-effective IT environment
