Who doesn't know Eric Schmidt, Google CEO who once opposed the development of Java during his days at Sun? At a recent SES summit he commented that it was quite difficult generally to predict the technology business future and of the search engine in particular.

He stated that AJAX and LAMP were enabling a new model of computing to come up where people could access applications from anywhere on any device. With regards to the concern that advertisers had with regard to its measurability when it boiled down to search he commented that AJAX was a change in page view modeling and he would certainly think about it.
