Google Web Toolkit Open Sourced

Read this, the code of Google Web Toolkit (GWT) has been open sourced by Google and all the non Google people have been invited to participate in it. It was earlier this year that Google had released some of the code to an open source project under the Apache 2.0 License but now the company is releasing all the codes of GWT so that even outsiders can aid in the development process.

GWT is meant to aid Java programmers write Ajax style Web applications. As per Google Tech Lead Bruce Johnson, the only change in version 1.3 is the open sourcing of the code.

Google Tech Lead Bruce Johnson on the project blog said:

Now that GWT has some serious adoption and a lively user community, open sourcing is the obvious next step to help GWT evolve more quickly.

Open sourcing will ensure that it would get to gain from the developers outside its reach which would not have been possible otherwise.
