Itanium 2-based solutions to get Java platform support
Sun and Intel have chalked out a deal for delivering Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE) for Itanium 2 based solutions. From next year onwards support would be included as a part of the standard update for Java SE 6 and for this purpose Intel has been porting and optimizing the code.
Developers working on Itanium based systems stand to benefit from it and this support would increase the Java based software availability and increase the solution choice for end users. The port will be hosted for Intel Itanium architecture on website of Sun which would make it a one stop shop for all developers.
