Java to Be Open Sourced Under GPL

It's finally out!! Sun would be open sourcing Java under the GNU GPL v2. Very soon Sun will be releasing the source code for implementation of JSE and a buildable implementation of JME. Also JEE would be made available under the GNU GPL v2.
Already JEE has been made available under the Sun's CDDL through Project GlassFish. This is being regarded as one of the largest source code contributions under the GPL license. This announcement is just opposite of what former Sun CEO Scott McNealy had said once that there was no point in offering an open source implementation.
Rich Green, Executive V.P, Sun said:
By open-sourcing Sun's implementation of Java technology, we will inspire a new phase of developer collaboration and innovation using the NetBeans IDE [Integrated Development Environment] and expect the java platform to be the foundation infrastructure for next generation Internet, desktop, mobile and enterprise applications.

I don’t see a reference to any such announcement on Sun’s Java site. Where’s your evidence that GPL will be used? What licence will be used is still speculation as far as I can see.

OK, it would appear you had a good scoop. Judging from Tim Bray’s blog entry the official announcement is imminent.
