Java's Answer to Ruby on Rails
Filed in archive Programming on April 3, 2006
TheServerSide.com has covered the release of GRails 0.1. GRails is suppose to be "the java community's answer to Ruby on Rails" but I'm not so sure.
I've tried GRails and had a number of problems when I did but don't hold that against anyone. I mean come on it is only version 0.1 right now. When it does mature a bit I'm sure it will start drawing some serious attention. One reason I say that is because when I started using Rails is took me a really long time to think about things in a Rails way. I'm not sure that other Java developers who have invested an incredible amount of time and effort in Java are going to want to change langauges unless they have to. It also still bothers me that I know so little about what Rails is doing in the background automagically for me.
