Meebo.com Gets Investor Funding
Filed in archive Business on December 22, 2005

Torsten Jacobi forwarded me this item which I found interesting. Meebo.com has a service that allows users to access all the major Instant Messaging services through a single AJAX interface. Just a few days ago they recieved $3.5 million in funding from Sequoia Capital.
The fact that this is an AJAX interface for IM is mildly interesting to me. If that were the only thing going for this story I'd probably pass on covering it here. What interested me was the "about" section of this site. This venture was started and currently being run by only three individuals. Also, based on reading that information it looks as though only one of them is an engineer. I guess VC funding is seriously loosening up these days.

With meebo, there is no need to, download and run multiple software products. Meebo's investors include Sequoia Capital and other individual investors.
