Microsoft Planning To Target AJAX with Atlas
Recently Microsoft came out with a new community technology preview (CTP) version of its Atlas framework which ended the need for a long awaited feature supporting dynamic application controls rendering as well as several bug fixes. Atlas is considered to be the .Net based answer of Microsoft to AJAX. It would be released in Microsoft's next Visual Studio update which is code named Oracas but Microsoft has been developing it publicly and has been coming out with preview releases in order to encourage earlier adoption. In March, Microsoft had given a Go-Live license for Atlas in order to allow developers to openly release production applications built around Atlas.

It is being said that in its beta version a lot of thoughts and efforts have been put into it and these tool supports multiple browsers and web standards and it is being seen as a reversal of trend where Microsoft used to target Internet Explorer. As of now final date for the release of Orcas or complete version of Atlas has not been decided.
