NetBeans Java development toolkit to offer support for Ruby development
This is an announcement which reaffirms the commitment of Sun Microsystems to dynamic languages. The company has stated that its NetBeans Java development toolkit would be offering support for Ruby development. This can be regarded as encouraging news since up till now Ruby developers did not have much of IDE support and were using just plain text editors.

Now Ruby developers will be able to avail features such as navigation outline, syntax highlighting, project support and unit test execution. Also there are a number of extended features available with the pack such as pop-ups for Ruby API calls, integrated documentation, semantic analysis with parameters highlighting and unused local variables along with occurrence highlighting. There would also be additional support for development of Ruby on Rails applications.
