Filed in archive Business on March 2, 2007
Soon expect a new Java platform for mobile phones as Sun and NTT DoCoMo have been working on it for a while but the company revealed this at the JavaOne conference held in San Francisco. The work is being undertaken in order to match today's advanced handsets and applications and could even be promoted as a cross industry standard.
Some serious work is going under the project which has been named Star and it has some high targets- one of them is to bring DoCoMo's Java platform up to date. The companies have still not announced the time it would take to develop the new platform but when completed it is expected that the platform might be used by other carriers too.
