Open Sourcing Java Won’t Affect Developers

We all know that Sun is in the process of open sourcing Java SE but as per company's chief open source officer, this would not make any difference to the majority of Java programmers.
As per Simon Phipps:
He's long held the belief that coders working with Java don't care whether the source code is available for their platform. I'm not sure it changes very much of your life. This has been a perspective I've had on open-source Java SE for some time: There are precious few people who really care. I actually don't think most Java developers will be in any way affected by what's going on here in the short term.
The company had earlier received stick from various segments for not open sourcing Java SE. This might improve quality but Phipps believes that developers working with Java might not be interested in its internals. He also expressed that a number of people might be interested in the community but very few people would be interested in cutting code.

As this is a topic that several reporters have chosen to misrepresent, I’ve written an explanation on my bog. Suffice to say I think open sourcing the Java platform is very important and attempts to use my words to minimise that fact are just sensationalism.
