Probably this is what we will witness in the future - a common Ajax platform for both desktop and mobile access. A common Ajax platform will give the industry universal content and application platform and as per industry estimates it will be a web on mobile platform and not a separate mobile web. It is expected that the platform will be based on two open source projects- Mozilla and WebKit along with Opera browser.




A few days back I had talked about how Ajax applications would gain prominence on mobile devices as we are witnessing an increasing trend of people accessing web through their phones as compared to computers. Dignitaries who attended the mobile AJAX workshop felt that Ajax would have an important role to play in the coming days. Server side content would have an critical role to play and we would witness a further fragmentation on devices as compared to desktops. Though there would be certain limitations with respect to the size of the keypad, screen, memory, CPU and bandwidth but still Ajax applications will witness an upward trend as situation has changed for better as compared to what it used to be before. I believe it is a positive start for Ajax in the world of mobile devices.
