PowerDVD BD Edition Incorporates Java Technology
Filed in archive Business on September 5, 2006
PowerDVD BD Edition from CyberLink supports Java technology which provides full BD-J advanced content support for Blu-ray Discs played via PowerDVD. It is based on Java Micro Edition from Sun Microsystems which is already being used in over a million television sets, more than a billion cell phones, automobiles and a number of other embedded devices. CyberLink and Sun worked together in order to integrate Sun's Java CDC Hotspot Implementation into CyberLink PowerDVD BD Edition and this has ensured compatibility and best in class performance for CyberLink products.
BD-J ensures that the bonus content on Blu-ray disc supports a variety of features which includes advanced menus and rich interactivity, movie related gaming and network access which supports features like downloading of live events or trailers.
This is what Alice H. Chang, CEO, CyberLink had to say:
As the inventors of Java technology, Sun is the perfect partner to work with to assist with full implementation of BD-J functionality. By doing so, we can ensure compatibility with Blu-ray Discs incorporating Java-based applications, enabling PowerDVD to continue delivering the leading movie experience on the PC.
