Second update of Java SE 1.6 released
Filed in archive updates on July 9, 2007
The second update for Java 1.6 has been released by Sun which offers increased stability and fixes various bugs. In this latest update Sun has not identified any of the bugfixes as security vulnerabilities. In this new update a number of bugs have been fixed in classes_security and the remaining fixes are more of cosmetic nature.
In the changelog you might notice certain items which point towards certain security issues and one of the bugs listed is classes 2d which can cause the virtual machine to crash. While installing the latest version one needs to de install the previous version of Java manually because if this is not done the Java applications might still access the older version regardless of the upgrade.
