Mashups enables users with little or no technical background to create customized applications. Here is Smash, a development tool from IBM aimed at creation of mashup application in secure environment. With this tool users will be able to bring together pieces of code and data from several sources and use it in a single mashup application. With Smash IBM plans to take care of the security aspect which otherwise was a big concern in mashup concept.

Now the good thing is that IBM is not planning to keep Smash to itself rather it's willing to contribute the code to OpenAjax. If you want to know more about Smash then you will have to make to the International World Wide Web conference being held in Beijing next month to catch its demonstration.
