Stax Networks Launches Private Beta

Seattle-based startup Stax Networks this week launched into private beta.

"Stax is offering a platform as a service product for Java applications - basically, the easiest way to think about it is Google App Engine for Java applications (or Heroku for Ruby on Rails applications)... Stax is built on top of Amazon EC2 and allows developers to create, text and deploy Java applications without having to build out their own physical infrastructure," writes TechCrunch's Michael Arrington.

"Stax is not charging developers at the moment, but you can expect them to provide a premium model for developers in order to market and promote their services and products as the size of the services increase," writes Startup Meme's Bilal Hameed. "The company has raised a venture round from Baseline Ventures in late 2007 which is rumored to be under $1 million."

The company's announcement is here.
