Sun changes its stand on Java updates
Filed in archive Security on September 25, 2007
On previous occasions Sun had received flak from security experts and the blogger community with respect to their dilly dallying attitude on security patches and it very much looks that Sun has taken some piece of advice and now seems to be following the footsteps of Microsoft's security group.

From now on we will start getting advance notification with regards to java SE (Standard Edition) security updates and the company will also do away with its practice of surprising Java patches release rather it will simultaneously release updates for every supported Java SE platforms. Earlier Sun had been lambasted for its attitude and it was being said that this gave hackers a chance to reverse engineer Sun's security fixes.
Sun even has plans to wait before releasing updates for old version users as earlier Sun used to fix older version weeks or even months after it had made available patch for the latest version. Seems Sun has learnt from its mistakes finally!!
