Sun donates storage technologies to the OpenSolaris community
Filed in archive Business on June 25, 2007
Here some real good news!! Sun has opened up its heart and donated storage technologies to the OpenSolaris community for creation of cheap storage facilities and would be commodity hardware independent too. Sun has a reason behind it - the company plans to create a place for OpenSolaris as the most comprehensive multi vendor storage operating system.
Point-in-Time Copy and Remote Mirror data services have been included in the widgtery which copy volumes and their snapshots to physically different servers. If this does not satisfy you then in the coming months Sun plans to open source technologies such as StorageTek Storage Archive Manager, StorageTek QFS shared file system and StorageTek 5800 client interfaces and simulator/server. Get more details at OpenSolaris community.
