Code named Mustang, Java SE 6 has seen the light of the day. It took around two years to come up with the latest version of Java SE. It is for the first time that with Java SE 6, developers would be able to mix Java with a host of other languages such as Python, Java Script, Ruby and PHP.

Up till now Sun thought that Java could take care of all the problems being faced by the developers but now the company has realized that developers want to use other languages besides Java for creating hybrid applications. In the latest Java SE 6 version you would see a preconfigured version of mozilla's open source Rhino JavaScript engine.

Java SE development process has seen contributions from a number of non Sun developers. You can clearly see the influence of developers in the form of a new layout manager based on NetBeans GUI Builder. You would also see Java SE 6 supporting Vista OS.

Java SE 6 is expected to make development quicker and easier besides offering enhanced functionality for dynamic language support, web services, desktop applications and diagnostics.
