Sun woo environment with its eco friendly innovation strategies

Today I am not going to talk about Java or Ajax or any other technology but another topic which is also close to my heart and has got the support of Sun. The company has got a mention in Environmental Defense Fund which recognizes environmental efficiency innovations undertaken by companies.
If we look back at 2007 then Sun Open Work program has prevented 29,000 metric tones of CO2 from entering the environment and at the same time saved around $68 million for the company in real estate costs. The innovations undertaken by the company has helped it to contribute a lot towards the environment.
If we talk about datacenter innovation then the company came up with datacenters which brought down the levels of carbon dioxide significantly and saved $1.1 million for the company in terms of energy costs. It has even come up with innovations at its workplace where more than eighteen thousand employees have been given the flexibility of working from wherever they want and most of them use Sun Ray Thin client which is an ultra energy efficient desktop using just four watts of electricity.
If we talk about product innovation then the company has contributed in terms of Chip Multi threading Technology and Sun Modular Datacenter which has led to energy savings and has gone a long way towards safeguarding the environment. If each and every company starts caring about the environment then the earth would certainly be a much better place to live.

It is environmental illiteracy and a complete lack of forward thinking to ignore the need to halt and then reverse population growth in the context of climate change, congestion, unaffordable housing, and resource depletion.
