Welcome 2007 with Open-Source Java
Filed in archive Application Development on October 25, 2006
Remember, last August Sun said that it wanted to open source Java and now Rich Green, executive V.P. of the company has announced that the company plans to start open sourcing of Java by the year end and complete it by the year 2007.
Rich Green said:
We did it with Java Enterprise Edition (server) with the GlassFish project, and we will be doing it with Java Standard Edition and Java Micro Edition, which is pretty exciting.
As per company sources you might get to see some highlights of java platform in the fourth quarter itself. When it gets open sourced expect more products to be build with Java by developers. The company also has plans of releasing Java Enterprise System.
