Sun fell flat on its face when it tried to cash in on popularity of Apple iPhone with a JVM but unfortunately Apple SDK had no place for it. This left a number of red faced people within the ranks of Sun who thought it would be a cakewalk.
This hasn't deterred other companies from trying their luck as Adobe has stated that it plans to come up with Flash player version for iPhone which is expected to be available within a short span of time.
Probably Adobe is trying its luck out but you must know that at the end of the day it's Apple which decides what runs on the iPhone and what not. We can only request Steve Jobs and not threaten him. This is what technology is all about - it's not possible to fight back the current leader!!
