Will Android be the reason for start of a new battle between Google and Sun?
Filed in archive Application Development on November 15, 2007
Just a couple of days back I told you about Google Android and how there was a chance of Google creating trouble for Java. It looks as if history might repeat itself and we may get to experience a similar war which erupted between Sun and Microsoft almost a decade back.

Rich Green commented on this issue and told reporters at the Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco:
Anything that creates a more diverse or fractured platform is not in (developers') best interests. The feedback from developers is, 'Help us fix this.
Google had stated that it expected other members of the Open Handset Alliance phones to keep its variation of Java familiar to programmers and its still not clear as to whether it would conform to Java APIs or not.
Sun wants to work in tandem with Google so that developers don't face any sort of problems and in their fight they do not end up with something which causes trouble for all. On the other hand Google says that if we talk about Java fragmentation then Android will act as a solution rather than some sort of hindrance. Is this the signal of some new battle between both the companies? I keep my fingers crossed on this issue.
