How many of you really took notice of what Jonathan Schwartz, CEO, Sun Microsystems stated at the SugarCRM Customer and Developer Conference? Still scratching your heads? Now let me take you back and quote what he said:

I think what you'll see from Sun is that we're just going to take the 'J' off the 'JVM' and just make it a 'VM'

Is he looking forward to separate Java from JVM? If this is the case then probably it could have serious implications for the web CMS and portal marketplace. If you go back in the time machine then it was Microsoft which had come up with the concept of language neutral virtual machine with Common Language Infrastructure specification or ECMA-335.

What is it that makes Sun seek Java less JVM? If you look around then Flex is emerging strongly and Adobe VM or Tamarin is expected to be an important part of Firefox and it is continuing with a project where C, C++ and other languages would be running on AVM. Adobe is getting in the Java less VM business and that too in a strong manner. If everything goes right then Adobe might have its way in almost every PC in the world.

It seems Sun wants to make itself a strong contender in the VM wars. Let's wait and watch. I will keep you updated on this!!
