Will jPhone be able to displace Apple iPhone?
Filed in archive Business by gautam on October 12, 2007
Sun was probably disturbed by the fact that Steve Jobs didn't get Java on iPhone and as a result it may soon come out with a competitor for Apple iPhone with the help of Samsung. Both the companies together might come up with a phone with improved functionality and low cost which could displace iPhone from the popularity charts. Scott McNealy has added heat to the fire by stating that both of them were working on a Java phone with improved functionality and costs which could kill iPhone.

In May at the JavaOne Conference Jonathan Schwartz had unveiled Java run prototype handset from First International Computer which looked just like younger brother of iPhone and since then we started feeling that Sun would soon move in the direction of coming up with something like iPhone.

I was just wondering whether the 'jPhone' will be able to give iPhone run for its money since it would not be easy to erode the popularity if this brand easily. Above all this has given a lot of space for rumors and we will see a number of us including me contemplating about what the new phone from Sun would be all about. I hope it doesn't 'borrows' features and styling from iPhone or it bite the dust for sure.
