You all must be aware of widgets? For those of you who have heard this term for the first time widgets are small applications written in JavaScript which are used for a single function. Now yahoo has gone ahead and expressed its concern to support third party widgets on its mobile platform which should speed up the development process and bring up platform independence. Ajax would be there to ensure rapid porting but mobile widgets are facing roadblocks due to widget-hosting environment availability and lack of data plans required for such communication intensive applications.

It seems Yahoo is looking forward to take care of these issues by opening their Yahoo Go Java client and mobile web portal to third party widgets but this would require users to either load the website or launch applications. At the end of the day its popularity would depend upon availability of data plans. Let's see what happens!!
