This story about Yahoo's UI library release is all over the place today. The fact that Yahoo would release a library of components to assist developers in building rich user interfaces on the web is pretty cool. They have also thrown in a Design Pattern Library as well for good measure.

I've used DWR, Script.aculo.us, ProtoType and MochiKit so far but haven't decided to stick with any single one yet. The list of available frameworks over at the Ajaxpatternss.org site tells me that the last thing I need right now is yet another option when building a site that uses AJAX. For some reason though Yahoo doing this it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. It is like I could just pick up one of these components and use it without the frustration I've had to deal with elsewhere. I can't say that I know that for certain yet but I'll give Yahoo a try and let you know.
