iPhone and AJAX - that's a wonderful concoction!! Maverick Steve Jobs made an announcement at Apple's World-Wide Developer's Conference that third party developers will be able to create programs which can work on iPhone. The third party applications will be able to make their presence felt on iPhone only through the web. The safari browser will be supporting Web 2.0 Java based techniques in AJAX enabling developers to create applications for the iPhone. The AJAX support is expected to bring iPhone users closer to enjoying YouTube videos on their phone which up till now was possible on Nokia N800 Internet Tablet which cannot be termed as a phone in real terms.

There is a bit of dissatisfaction too that full access has not been granted to iPhone OS and developers would only be able to write web based programs which might tie their hands. Anyways it's a welcome move.
